“Cebu has witnessed several incidents of violent crimes particularly in conflict-affected barangays Suba, Sawang Calero, and Pasil”.
This is how the media organizations portray the present situation in said barangays that cause tremendous fear among those who would want to visit the so-called “dreaded and drug infested communities” of Cebu City.
This allegation then compelled Police Brigadier General Dennis A. Siervo, Chief of the PNP Human Rights Affairs Office to conduct roving inspection in the said barangays on April 26, 2019 together with Police Colonel Royina M Garma and personnel of Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) in order to assess and evaluate the peace and order situation in the area.
During the said inspection, PBGEN Siervo noted that contrary to media reports, the normalcy in barangays Suba, Sawang Calero, and Pasil, as well as peace and order situation, are already restored.
According to the netizens, it was also the first time that a star-ranked officer in full uniform walked down the streets and alleys of the infamous barangays of Cebu City.
